Church Leader Visits Belize

Reminds parents to teach their children who they really are

On Thursday, 8 March 2018, Elder Gerrit Gong, of the Presidency of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints came to Belize as a part of his Central America visit. He was accompanied by Elder Jorge Zeballos, also of the Seventy, President Eric Adams, mission president, and their wives. They spoke at a special gathering of Belizean members in the Belize City chapel, and then held a meeting for all the missionaries on the following day. Many of the members traveled two-and-a-half hours by bus to attend the meeting.

The messages included a reminder to parents to teach their children who they really are: the sons and daughters of a loving Heavenly Father. The scripture in 1 Samuel 16:7 was reference that the Lord “seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart”

Elder Gong was part of a Central America Area visit that included Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. While in Guatemala City on Tuesday, 6 March 2018, Elder Gong also addressed church employees in the Central America Area office. He was joined on the trip by his wife.
