Missionaries and members around the country perform acts of love and service to others "Light the World"

On Saturday, December 1, missionaries and members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Belize, with enthusiasm, joy and dedication, served in several communities as follows:

  • Victorious Nazarene School in Succotz – fixed the road in front of the school, cleaned the building including the walls and the yard
  • San Ignacio & Santa Elena House of Culture – general cleanup of building including exterior walls and mowing lawn and compound
  • George Brown Park in Belmopan – white-washed the trees in that area and helped with decorations
  • Sarawee Village, Dangriga – cleaning of yard of a family in need
  • North Side Belize City – teamed up with the Belize City Council to clean and pick up garbage around the place including Lopez Mateo Park
These service activities started the global campaign "Light the World", which aims to invite people to perform small acts of service to their community, neighbors and their families. In this way the spirit of Christmas will remind us that it is the birth of Jesus Christ that we commemorate and that we can follow his example with these small acts of service.

The members of the church will also be joining this noble cause by practicing similar acts, which carry a beautiful message of love, charity, faith and hope for all the Belizean people.  The church invites all Belizeans to take part in this “Light the World” campaign that will last until December 23, by emulating all the attributes of Jesus Christ, doing for our neighbor everything that the Savior did for each one of us.
