Belize Newsroom Site Launched

Minelia Gomez will be the site's editor

Welcome, Belize! The Belize newsroom site of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was launched today, becoming the Church’s 82nd worldwide. Mormon Newsroom is the official Church resource for media, opinion leaders and the public. The Belize Newsroom joins Guatemala, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama in becoming the seventh newsroom site in Central America.

“When I went into the newsroom main site for the first time, I was impressed and a little worried because I had never done this kind of work before, however, I knew that what seemed impossible then could become possible with the Lord’s help”, said Minelia Gómez who has been called to serve as the site’s editor. “Having tested the waters with the first two articles, has brought a tinge of excitement and I’m looking forward to dive into this new calling”.

Julio Enrique Alvarado, Director of Public Affairs for the Central America Area of the Church said, “If I were a journalist committed to publishing the truth about a subject related to Latter-day Saints in Belize, my first source of news would be www.saladeprensamormona.bz, where I would find fresh stories, important topics, statistics, history of their congregations and biographies of their main leaders.

“Any other source would be for a reference only. Congratulations to the editors for launching this site that gives insight to a community eager to help and serve others,” Alvarado added.
